Courses and Conferences

Research and Development Center of Naples, part of the Information Technologies, during SAPI project, have participated in the following national and international conferences.

11a International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems (ICEIS), Milan, May 6-10, 2009.

ICEIS 09 was held on May 6-10, 2009 in Milan. Five simultaneous tracks was held, covering different aspects of Enterprise Information Systems Applications, including Enterprise Database Technology, Systems Integration, Artificial Intelligence, Decision Support Systems, Information Systems Analysis and Specification, Internet Computing, Electronic Commerce and Human Factors. We exploited a genetic algorithm in order to facilitate the user when filling out a form by properly re-arranging fields and predicting user-input.

3rd International Conference on Learning and Intelligent OptimizatioN (LION3) - Trento, January 14-18, 2009.

LION3 was held on January 14-18, 2009 in Trento and was aimed at exploring the boundaries and uncharted territories between machine learning, artificial intelligence, mathematical programming and algorithms for hard optimization problems. We present an Interactive Genetic Algorithm in order to customize the look of a User Interface and to satisfy at the same time the guidelines of W3C.

10th International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computation (GECCO '08) - Atlanta, July 12-16, 2008.

GECCO-2008 was held on July 12-16, 2008 in Atlanta (USA) and presented the latest high-quality results in the growing field of genetic and evolutionary computation. We presented a Genetic Algorithm able to improve the contrast ratio between background and foreground of the text in a User Interface. The algorithm optimize the color for a normal viewer and for user affected by Color Vision Deficiency such as protanopia and deuteranopia.

Meeting on Low Vision and Computer Science at University La Sapienza in Rome -
Rome, October 24, 2008.

The meeting was held on the 24th October 2008 in Rome at University “La Sapienza” - Dipartimento di Scienze Oftalmologiche. It was promoted by International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) Italy onlus and by Policlinico Gemelli (Centre for Low Vision). It focused on the state of art about computer science for vision-impaired and on assistive technologies, keeping into account innovative perspectives in the field of Medicine and in the field of Information Technology.

8th European Conference on Evolutionary Computation in Combinatorial Optimisation (EVOCOP 08) – Naples, March 26-28, 2008.

EVOCOP Conference was held on March 26-28, 2008 in Naples. Featuring the latest in theoretical and applied research, the topics will include recent genetic programming challenges, evolutionary and other meta-heuristic approaches for combinatorial optimisation, evolutionary algorithms in the biosciences, in music and art domains, in image analysis and signal processing systems, in hardware optimisation and as applied to a range of industrial and financial optimisation problems. We presented a work about the optimization of menu layout according to the accessibility index and keeping into account preferences and constraints which are setted by designer.
